PNP-ARMMand Lanao Sur has 3 mayor-drug lords
PARANG,
Maguindanao – Three town mayors in Lanao del Sur have been listed as
big time illegal drug lords and are the subject of police operation.
Chief Supt. Agripino
Javier, police director in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM),
refused to name the town executives but Javier said some civilian groups have
offered P100,000 each for the heads of town mayors.
The amount
put up by some individuals will be given to police officers who can neutralize
these town mayors,” Javier said. We are working on it, including
identification of their followers we presumed to be heavily armed.”
He said it is
better for these mayors to voluntarily surrender.
When asked
whether a shoot on sight order was up, Javier said it all depends if they
resist, they have armed followers for sure so the police is authorized to
decide what is best in a given situation.”
Javier said
PNP chief Ronald dela Rosa was right when he said that narco-politics exists in
ARMM. We know them, we are monitoring their movement, in due time they will be
neutralized.”
Now is the
time to end all these illegal activities in ARMM, now is the time that we face
them head on, we have a very supportive police chief, the President is behind
us,” Javier said, adding that no other
President has had this kind of support to police in the campaign against drug
lords.”
On possibility
the drug syndicates putting up reward for his head, Javier said, Go ahead, if
they get me, there are other police generals waiting in Camp Crame to take my
place and the campaign continues.”
Javier also
said he ordered the relief of police provincial directors of Basilan, Sulu and
Tawi-Tawi and 10 town police chiefs across the region for low performance on
anti-drug campaign.
He did not say
why the police director of Lanao del Sur, where three town mayors are suspected
of illegal drug activities, was not relieved.
Thirty other town
police chiefs in ARMM are candidates for relief if their performance against
illegal drugs remains low. (Ferdinandh Cabrera)
