Pinol vows speedy dispersal of aid to agri-sector
GEN. SANTOS CITY -Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Manny Piñol assured farmers and fisher folks in Sarangani and Gen. Santos City that under his leadership, the Department of Agriculture will have a policy of fast delivery of assistance. Under my term, farm inputs and other agri-fishery assistance will be delivered quickly to ensure that they will immediately utilize the interventions.Before Secretary Piñol addressed the participants, he led the turn-over of more than P191-M worth of agri-fishery assistance to different recipients from Sarangani and GenSan at the said city. Projects turned-over were under the Bottom-Up Bugeting, Philippine Rural Development Project, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources 12, Masaganang Ani sa Nayon Rice and Corn Program.Piñol faced yesterday the governors of the provinces in Region 12, congressmen, mayors of Sarangani towns, farmer leaders, and members of the Regional Management Committee in a consultation dialogue dubbed as Tapatanand Gobyerno ug katawhan in General Santos s City.DA Undersecretary for Agribusiness and High Value Crops Evelyn Laviña also presented the status of the Agri-secor and its future under the Duterte Administration. Pinol,in his message, declared that the mandates President Rodrigo Duterte gave him areand 1) to ensure available and affordable food to every Filipino 2) stop corruption in the agency.He also encourage close partnership with the local government units and DA to bring more agri-fishery development to the farmers and fisher folks.
