PDEA-ARMM agents arrest lady teacher, 4 others in drug buy bust

SINSUAT, Maguindanao – Anti-narcotics operatives, police and military
personnel arrested today a Maguindanao lady public school teacher and three
other companions during drug buy bust operation that led to the recovery of about
P6.8-million of suspected shabu.
Director
Juvenal Azurin of Phiippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Autonomous Region in
Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-ARMM) who led the buy bust operation said his unit
received a tip from concerned citizen about big time drug peddling at a
gasoline station in Barangay Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindano.
Immediately,
Azurin put up a team to secure about 50 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride from
the suspect, a teacher of Datu Unsay Elementary School in Maguindanao.
At past 5 p.m.
PDEA operatives, backed by elements from the 19th Infantry Battalion
and Maguindanao Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Unit (PPDEU), immediately arrested
teacher Salama Diwa Talib after she handed over the stuff and received the
P300,000 cash from a PDEA poseur buyer in the vicinity of Petron Gas Station in
Sitio Badac, Barangay Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.
Also arrested
were Saiden Yusa, Mahmod Dimudtang and Nasser Pasawilan, all of legal age.
We placed an
original P1,000 bill on top of photocopied cut paper money inside a paper bag
to make appear it was real money, Azurin said.
Seized during
the operation were a huge sachet of suspected shabu containing 50 grams of
prohibited stuff worth P340,000 and 19 sachets of shabu with estimated cost of
P6,460,000 and the suspects’ mobile phone used in illegal transactions.
Azurin said
his office is determining if the group belongs to a big time syndicate
operating in Maguindanao.
All the four
suspects are now detained at PDEA-ARMM lock up cell while charges for violation
of Republic Act 9165 are being prepared against the suspects.
