PDEA agents raid Maguindanao town councilor's home, arrest wife
COTABATO CITY – Backed by the military, anti-narcotics agents in the Autonomous Region in
Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) raided on Thursday the house of a Maguindanao town councilor
but missed him.
Elements of
the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-ARMM) did not find the town councilor
in his home in Barangay Macasampen, Guindulungan, Maguindanao during the 6 a.m.
raid but found about 25 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) with an estimated
market value of P100,000.
Agents also
seized an unlicensed 12 gauge shot gun and ammunition for M-14 rifle and cal.
45 pistol.
Government
agents arrested the wife of town Councilor Saiden Utto. Utto who was the subject of a search warrant
issued by Judge Bansawan Ibrahim of Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 13.
Fairuniza Utto
denied her husband was a drug pusher. She maintained the family was not into
illegal drug trade.
An
anti-narcotics agent said Utto has been placed under surveillance operations
for about five months due to his alleged involvement in illegal drugs.
The agent said after PDEA confirmed his illegal activities,
a search warrant was requested from RTC-13.
The wife is currently
detained at PDEA-ARMM lock up cell in Cotabato City while the town official
remained at large.
