OCD-ARMM provides technical support to MSU Maguindanao

DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao – The Office of Civil Defense in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao(OCD-ARMM) has provided technical support during the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Capacity Needs Assessment (CNA) Tools Development of Mindanao State University starting this mornign at the university’s training center.The training will last until Feb. 26, according to OCD-ARMM Regional Director Myrna Angot.Dr. Bai Soraya Q. Sinsuat, MSU Maguindanao Chancellor, expressed her support to theDRRM programs of the school, government agencies and non-government organizations. We must pursue programs on DRRM and make sure that there are efforts on the sustainability of these programs. In her opening message, Prof. Lilia Guiamla, DRRM focal of the university emphasized the importance of DRRM programs. DRRM is no joke, it is and important concern of everyone. This is the very reason why we should all cooperate in DRRM, she said.Gecile Gonzales of OCD-ARMM said participants, mostly major players in disaster management were oriented about the Philippine DRRM System, including its system's overview, legal basis, mechanism and structures.They were informed about the DRRM network from the national level down to the municipal levels with much emphasis on the establishment of Municipal and Provincial DRRM Offices which will then establish the network to the Regional DRRM Office.A workshop activity is on going and being participated by faculty members and staff of the university.
