Obey traffic rules, follow road signs, save lives - South Cotabato cop
KORONADAL CITY - Police authorities in Tantangan, South Cotabato today reminded motorists along a well-paved road linking Tantangan town and Koronadal City to simply obey road signs and save lives. Be watchful of road signs, always on alert and drive safely, Senior Inspector John Eric Medel, Tantangan town police chief, told motorists in an interview by DXOM-AM Radyo Bida Koronadal.Medel noted that the Tantangan-Koronadal roads are well paved and asphalted. This road condition is tempting motorists to speed driving despite the presence of ascending and descending portionS, blind curves and narrow road, thus highway mishaps happen often, Medel said. His appeal was issued after a brand new blue Ford Ranger pick-up flew and turned turtle in Barangay Dumadalig, Tantangan on Thursday night that left four persons seriously wounded. The victims include a physician and his wife.Traffic investigation showed a mentally deranged man suddenly appeared from the roadside and crossed the highway while the Ford Ranger was speeding. The lady driver avoided the man but the vehicle fell off the road and landed about 40 meters away from the highway into a banana plantation. A campaign of the Land Transportation Office years back is a best reminder to motorists. Its slogan was Drive Safely, Save Lives, The Life You Save May Be Your Own.
