No cholera, diarrhea outbreak in Alamada - official
ALAMADA, North Cotabato - The local government here clarified that no cholera or diarrhea outbreak have occurred in teh village of Giling before the Holy Week.Alamada Administrator Robin Cadava said the incident in Sitio Upper Tambunan, Barangay Guiling was only stomach disorders among the villagers due to water.He said his office only recorded 28 cases and not 79 as earlier reported to be suspected cholera or suspected diarrhea due to high number of patients.Cadava also clarified that only three of the patients were rushed to a hospital inMidsayap while the rest were treated by attending health workers in Barangay Giling.Cadava said the North Cotabato Integrated Provincial Health Office and Office of Gov. Emmylou Mendoza have already extended assistance to the patients.Alamada Mayor Virginia Concepcion said the local government will find better and safer water sources for the villagers of Giling and nearby communities.Last year, about seven persons died andat least 700 persons were downed by water born disease in several villages of Alamada.
