Motorcycle vs. 10-wheeler truck kills Makilala couple

KIDAPAWAN
CITY (Sept. 28) — A couple died instantly when the motorcycle it was sideswiped
by a 10-wheeler truck along a highway in Barangay Malasila, Makilala, North
Cotabato Friday evening.
Senior
Police Officer - 1 John Mendel Calinga, traffic investigator, identified the
victims as Nilo Pikit and his wife Lilibeth of Barangay Saguing, Makilala,
North Cotabato.
Calinga said the
husband-wife tandem sustained fatal injuriesin
the head and body after the 8 p.m. accident.Calinga
disclosed the couple was riding a Skygo motorcycle traversing the national
highway when hit by the speeding 10-wheeler truck coming from the same
directions.
Darwin
Sungahid, the truck driver and a resident of Digos City, said the brake system
of the truck malfunctioned and accidentally hit the motorcycle the couple was riding.
It
was already beyond my control thus the truck hit the motorbike,” Sungahid said
from the Makilala PNP detention cell.
Charges
of reckless imprudence resulting to death is being readied against him.
