Motor driver who 'hit-and-run' a girl yields
KIDAPAWAN city -- Hours after a Butane gas vendor killed a six-year old he bumped in Magpet, North Cotabato while driving under the influence of liquor, voluntary yielded to authorities, police reports said.Arturo Noa Bogcutan, 22, of Barangay Purok Lumad, Barangay Poblacion in Magpet, first surrendered to his aunt who worked as councilor in their village.He told his aunt his conscience dictated him in doing so.Bogcutan, after sensing he hit hard the girl, fled to Kidapawan City.He feared for his life all the more when he learned the girl died few minutes after she was rushed to hospital.It was Bogcutan’s aunt who brought him to the Kidapawan City PNP to undergo inquest proceedings.Reports from Magpet PNP showed that it was not the first time Bogcutan got involved in a vehicular accident along Magpet highway on that day.An hour before he bumped and killed the girl, he collided with a Bongo truck but settled the damages with the driver later.But because he was too intoxicated, his ‘reflexes failed to function’ so that when he saw the girl crossed the streets on Sunday afternoon, he lost balance and hit her, reports said.He fled later to unknown direction, the reports added.Bogcutan, though, has other issues to deal with, according to Magpet municipal police station head, Chief Inspector Rommel Constantino.Ronnie Sapino, Bogcutan’s employer, went to the police station, also on Monday, to file complaint against him allegedly due to his failure to remit the money he collected from selling Butane gas bottles in Magpet town.Investigator said the employer found out Bogcutan spent the money in a drinking spree with his cousin identified as Jaime Noa whom he had a fistfight later.Noa suffered only minor injuries, reports said.The Magpet PNP is readying the complaint of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide against Bogcutan.
