Mlang multi-purpose coop wins national award

KIDAPAWAN CITY – Another award which placed the province of North Cotabato again in the limelight was conferred to the Don Bosco
Multi-Purpose Cooperative based in M’lang, Cotabato during the 11th
National Organic Agriculture Congress held at SMX Convention Center, SM,
Barangay Lanang, Davao City on Nov. 11-13, 2014.

The National Organic
Agriculture Awards (NOAA) for Small Farmers Group Category was awarded to Don
Bosco Multi-Purpose Cooperative of M’lang by no less than Senator Cynthia A.
Villar, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Food and
Department of Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala.

Romano Laurilla, Manager of
Don Bosco Multi-Purpose Cooperative (DBMPC) of M’lang received a check worth
P500,000 and a Certificate of Recognition from the National Organic
Agricultural Program (NOAP) of the Department of Agriculture.

DA Undersecretary Emerson U.
Palad and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte assisted the two officials in
presenting the award to DBMPC-M’lang which highlighted further the excellent
performances of the agriculture sector of the Province of Cotabato.

The DMPC-M’lang is known for
producing Bios Dynamis - a high quality brand of organic brown rice and other
grains which are patronized by a wide range of consumers in the Province of
Cotabato.

North Cotabato Governor Emmylou Mendoza has widely supported the endeavors to advocate and
sustain organic farming and production in the province.

The theme of the 11th
National Organic Agriculture Congress is Empowering the Filipino Family
through Organic Agriculture”, which focused on bringing together the various
stakeholders and supporters of the Organic Agriculture program in the country
into a noteworthy event.

Sen. Villar gave the keynote
address where she lauded the National Organic Agriculture Board of the NOAP for
organizing the congress.

The lawmaker said that the
event gave the agriculture sector the opportunity to understand better the
significance of the program and absorb local policy standards, techniques on
growing organic products and strategies in market, health benefits and many
more.

The 2-day 11th
National Organic Agriculture Congress showcased the country’s best organic
produce and highlighted the top performers in the field of Organic Agriculture
where the DBMPC of M’lang was chosen.
