MILF vs. MILF in North Cotabato leaves 1 dead

PIKIT,
North Cotabato – One guerilla was killed when warring Moro Islamic Liberation Front
(MILF) rebels clashed in a remote village of Pikit, North Cotabato Monday,
officials said today.

Lt.
Colonel Audie Edralin, 7th Infantry Battalion commander, said two
warring groups all belonging to the MILF clashed starting at 8 a.m. that left
Maglalang Latip dead.

Latip
was a follower of MILF Commander Nasser alias Greenfield,” one of the
protagonists in the clash that erupted in Sitio Balebet, Barangay Bulol, Pikit,
North Cotabato.

Edralin
said the heavily armed group of Commander Nasser and equally armed group of
Commander Kuwata Dimanalao clash over personal grudge.

Both
side traded bullets and mortars.

Edralin
said investigation showed that two groups have been locked in long standing
feud, known as rido,” triggered the armed skirmishes.

A
missing huge amount of money where members of both sides were allegedly
involved was among the root cause of misunderstanding that led to infighting.

We
meet with local ceasefire monitoring units, they are mediating and we are cordinating with the local government and MILF ceasefire committee to defuse the tension,”
Edralin told Radyo Bida Kidapawan.

Edralin
said no evacuation was reported.
