Matanog officials slaughter 50 cows for 3-day Feast of Sacrifice celebration

MATANOG, Maguindanao – Mayor Kits Guro today led the 3-day grand celebration of Eud’ul Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) here with 50 heads of cows slaughtered for his poor inhabitants.Guided by a local ordinance passed by the town’s Sangguniang Bayan, the local government slaughtered cows to be distributed equally to all his constituents. This is a culture that we should espouse and share with our Iranun sisters and brothers, Guro said. We Iranuns must preserve this culture. On top of the distribution of Qurbani meat to less fortunate Muslims, Guro said the town had other activities to celebrate the feast of sacrifice. We have to persevere in all our sacrifice because in the end we will savour its success, said Aleem Abdulgani Pakir, a Muslim religious leader in Matanog.These include traditional Muslim games of Sipa sa Manggis, Palo Sebo, Paluan sa Palayok and Iranun food cooking contest.Guro then urged his Muslim sisters and brothers to maintain generosity especially to our less fortunate neighbors.
