MASA MASID launched in Lanao del Sur province and Marawi City

MARAWI CITY - Officials launched here Monday Malacañang’s special program against narcotics and corruption, barely five days after the activation of a local anti-terrorism and law-enforcement task force.Elected provincial officials led the symbolic launching here of the Mamamayang Ayaw sa Anomalya, Mamayang Ayaw sa Iligal na Droga, or MASA MASID, which is being managed by the central office of the Department of Interior and Local Government.Members of the Lanao del Sur league of mayors, representatives from the police and the military, Maranaw sectoral leaders and officials of different peace-advocacy groups also participated in the program,held at the provincial capitol compound in Marawi City.The activity was capped off with the signing by provincial and municipal officials, religious leaders and traditional community elders from Lanao del Sur’s 39 towns of a statement of support to President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs We in the provincial government and our constituent-mayors shall help one another implement the MASA MASID in Lanao del Sur, Vice Governor Mamintal Adiong, Jr. said after affixing his signature to the manifesto.Adiong said he is thankful to local religious leaders for attending the symbolic takeoff in Lanao del Sur of Malacañang’s MASA MASID program.It was preceded by the provincial government’s activation in Marawi City last week of the Task Force Lanao, an inter-agency group whose mission is to address, along with the police and military, security issues besetting the local communities.The police director of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, and Lt. General Carlito Galvez, Jr. of the Western Mindanao Command, both pledged to cooperate in pushing the activities of the infant task force forward.
