Marcos' committee hears IPs, Sulu Sultanates on BBL
COTABATO CITY - Indigenous Peoples (IPs) and Sulu Sultanaterepresentatives on Monday proposed full inclusion of IP rights in the draft Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) the Senate committee was deliberating on.The IPs, as shown on national television ANC, presented verbally and in hard copy, what they wanted included in the draft law during the Senate Committee on local governments chaired by Senator Ferdinand BongBong Marcos Jr Monday.Among those who presented proposals to the draft BBL was Alim Bandara, a tribal leader from Teduday tribe of Maguindanao.Other tribal groups were equally represented and heard during the public hearing held at the Senate office.Marcos noted that the tribal groups really wanted the Indegenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA) law be incorporated in the draft law.The tribal leaders coming in full force and in traditional dress agreed.
