Maguindanao town assessor survives slay try

COTABATO
CITY –- Unidentified gunmen shot and injured the municipal assessor
of a town in Maguindanao after he was shot along a busy street here Tuesday
afternoon.

Usop
Zacaria, municipal assessor of Kabuntalan town was alone in his vehicle at 5
p.m. when two men riding tandem on a motorbike parked beside his car that
paused due to traffic.

Five
shots were fired by the suspects, according to Cotabato City police director
Senior Supt. Victor Valencia.

After
the shooting, the suspects fled. Although injured, Zacaria disembarked from his
car and sought help from pedicab drivers who rushed him to a nearby hospital.

Zacaria’s
relatives said he has no known enemies.

We
were surprised he was shot, he has been a long time municipal assessor, a
