Lanao Sur execs distribute wheelchairs to handicapped

MARAWI CITY --- Two hundred ethnic Maranaw Muslims with physical disabilities benefited from Thursday’s wheelchair distribution here by local officials.
The project is a joint initiative of Lanao del Sur Gov. Soraya Alonto-Adiong and Rep. Ansaruddin Adiong, their first since the May 9, 2016 elections.The second-termer congressman is representing the first district of Lanao del Sur in the House of Representatives.Salma Jayne Tamano, provincial information officer of Lanao del Sur, said 300 more wheelchairs are to be distributed in municipalities in the province in coming weeks.She said they are thankful to the central office of the Department of Health for providing the wheelchairs. The wheelchairs were committed by the DOH last year yet, Tamano said.Tamano said the distribution of more wheelchairs in towns in the first district of Lanao del Sur shall be facilitated with the help of local government units.
Rep. Adiong also allocated wheelchairs for prospective beneficiaries in the second district of Lanao del Sur despite its being a separate congressional district.
Among those to be given wheelchairs are senior citizens in the province, Tamano said.
