Lady red fighter, 9 others yield to SK police
ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat – Tired and confused, 10 members of the communist
New Peoples Army decided to surrender to the local police in Sen. Ninoy Aquino, Sultan Kudarat on Sunday
afternoon.
Senior Supt.
Raul Supiter, Sultan Kudarat police director, said the surrenderees belonged to
Guerilla Front 73 Cherry Mobile Platoon under a certain Commander MacMac.
Supiter said
the rebels who all belonged to Manobo-Dulangan tribe were fetched by a police
team, led by Supt. Sultan Salman Haron Sapal, commander of the Sultan Kudarat Provincial
Mobile Force and Police Inspector Roberto Trinidad, deputy town police chief,

Supiter said the rebels appeared to be tired in running away from government forces and told police they were given lip service by NPA leaders.
The area is
about 10 kilometers away from the town center.
Chief Inspector
Aldrin Gonzales, speaking for police in Region 12, said village Chairperson
Mamerto Parong helped in negotiating for the surrender of the rebels.
Gonzales said
the surrenderees, a female and nine male, were all residents of Barangay
Baluan, Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat but operates in the mountains of Sen. Ninoy
Aquino.
They turned
over to police authorities three cal. 45 pistols with ammunition, homemade
Garand rifle, two cal. 38 revolver, one M-14 rifle and one home-made shotgun
with ammunition.
