Koronadal cops foil bombing of LTFRB-12 reg'l office

KORONADAL CITY -- Police bomb experts safely deactivated today a fragmentation grenade planted under a parked car of Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Regional Office No. 12 here. Supt. Barney Condes, Koronadal City police director, said the grenade was disposed by bomb experts in a firing range in the city at about 6 a.m. Condes said the grenade was found by the security guard, Danilo Morales, at about 4 a.m. under a parked Toyota Innova vehicle owned by LFRB-12 in Barangay Zone 3here. The police chief believed the grenade throwing was a retaliatory attack against an intensified campaign against colorum vehicles operating in Region 12. Several passenger van vehicles are impounded in the LTFRB-12 compound for failure of its owners and operators to secure LRFRB franchises. Condes said the incident has nothing to do with the Charter anniversary celebration of the city which starts today. Region 12 is composed of the provinces of North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and the cities of Cotabato, Kidapawan, Tacurong, Koronadal and Gen. Santos City.
