Korean mining exec seized in Lanao Sur
COTABATO CITY - A South Korean mining executive remained in the hands of his unidentified abductors after he was forcibly taken on January 19 in Saguiaran, Lanao del Sur, police said.Senior Inspector John Condo, chief of PNP Saguiaran, Lanao del Sur, said three men met the Koran and his police personal escortin Barangay Mipaga, a border village of Saguiaran with Marawi City.Interviewed by DXMS Radyo Bida Cotabato City Thursday,Condo said Korean Song Ki Eon was based in Cagayan de Oro City and went to Iligan City to meet prospective business partners. He was accompanied by a friend, Police Officer 2 Roel Billiardo.Billiardo told Condo that on their way to Iligan, Song Ki Eon received calls from the persons he will be meeting with.The Korean told Billiardo that they will proceed toMarawi City because the meeting will take place in the city and not in Iligan anymore.Condo quoted Billiard as telling Song Ki Eon not to proceed to Marawi because the area was dangerous for foreigners.The Korean ignored him and proceeded to Marawi. The Korean was behind the wheel of Black Toyota Avanza.As they reached Barangay Mipaga, three men boarded the Avanza and proceeded to Marawi City with the suspects directing Song Ki Eon where to go. It appeared the Korean and the three suspects knew each other very well, Condo said as told by Billiardo.Somewhere in Marawi City, the suspects forced the Korean to transfer to a Tamaraw FX while Billiardo was handcuffed inside the Avanza.Condo said no ransom has been raised so far.The PNP anti-kidnapping task group has taken over the investigation.
