Kidapawan inmates now registered voters
KIDAPAWAN CITY
(Sept. 11/NDBC) -- About 100 inmates of the Bureau of Jail Management and
Penology (BJMP) Provincial jail have registered with the Commission on
Elections (Comelec) during its satellite registration Friday.
Diosdado
Javier, Kidapawan City Comelec supervisor, said the activity was conducted per
directive from Comelec Manila.
Javier said the
satellite registration was part of the poll body’s community engagement and campaign
to increase the number of registrants, particularly in the city.
To date, almost
1000 inmates who availed of the satellite registration can participate in the
2016 national and local elections.
Ito na rin
ang pagkakataon para mapakita at magamit ng mga bilanggo ang kanilang
karapatang bumuto at pumili ng mga lider (This is an opportunity for inmates to
exercise their right to choose leaders),”
About 10,000
old voters have been delisted for not voting in the last two national or local
elections.
Registration is going
on in Comelec offices until October next year. (NDBC)
