Kidapawan flood victims get relief assistance
KIDAPAWAN CITY
(Sep 13/NDBC) – At least 625 families from flooded areas here were given immediate
relief assistance by the city government.
On Friday, City social welfare officer
Lorna Morales led the food relief to flood victims.
Morales said they also distributed
kitchen utensils to families whose houses were totally damaged by heavy
flooding that started Thursday.
On Friday, City Mayor Joseph Evangelista
has called for an emergency meeting of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and
Management Council (CDRRMC)to assess the damage to crops, properties, livestock, and
infrastructures, including roads and bridges.
We’re still in the process of evaluation
of the damage so we would know how much funds are needed for the repair,
additional relief, and assistance,” said Evangelista.
The mayor has also suspended classes on
all levels on Friday.
Affected barangays included Poblacion,
Lanao, Sudapin, Magsaysay, Balindog, Singao, New Bohol, Paco, and Kalasuyan, all considered low-lying
and adjacent to big creeks like Nuangan River, Malamote River, and Saguing
