PRC to open in Koronadal

KORONADAL CITY
(Sept. 25) – Responding to requests by the Region Development Council (RDC) in
the SOCCSKSARGEN region, the Philippine Regulatory Commission will open a
branch office here, the PRC said.

Teresita
Manansala, PRC chairperson, said she already directed the PRC Davao to open an
office here as soon as possible to expand its services to its clients.

Aside from
serving Koronadal City residents, the office will also cater to residents of
South Cotabato and nearby Sultan Kudarat and North Cotabato. (RO) Koronadal market stalls shut down due to tax
delinquency

KORONADAL CITY
(Sept. 25) – Seven more stalls at the city’s public market were shut down by
the city government due to tax delinquency and lack of necessary permits from
the city treasurer’s office.

Gilbert
Gayosa, Koronadal business permit licensing division section chief, said among
those stalls shut down by the city government were welding shops, dry goods
stores, lodging house and several others.

Owners of
these establishments failed to pay business taxes and in fact have arrears.

Gayoso said
owners may re-open its business establishments if tax obligations are settled. (RO) Militiamen, civilians on alert vs. BIFF

KIDAPAWAN CITY
(Sept. 25) – Villagers in a remote village of Matalam, North Cotabato have
remained on alert against harassment by lawless elements.

Erickson
Jaylon, village chair of Lower Malamote, Matalam, said villagers agreed to take
part in securing their properties and families.
Militiamen
were also placed on heightened alert following the other day’s harassment by
suspected Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in Baranagay Malamote and
two nearby villages of Kabacan, also in North Cotabato.

The Army
identified the attackers as those led by Commanders Kagi Karialan, Tong Piang
alias Bulldong, Alias Balumol, Bungos, Commander Ali Gumaga and Commander
Bigcog.

Classes in Makilala earthquake hit village resume

KIDAPAWAN CITY
(Sept. 25) – Classes in public schools in areas hardest hit by a magnitude 5.2
earthquake last weekend in Makilala, North Cotabato have opened Wednesday,
officials said today.
Mayor Rudy
Caogdan of Makilala ordered the suspension of classes for two days after the
tremor which damaged houses and public structures, like schools and chapel.Renato Corre,
Makilala schools west district supervisor, said a bayanihan” was initiated
Monday and Tuesday to repair portions of the damaged rooms of the Bato
Elementary School in Barangay public schools.Corre said the
damaged classrooms are now safe for use by students and teachers. (NE)

Manhunt on vs. suspect in murder of 15-year old teen

MATALAM, North
Cotabato (Sept. 25) – Manhunt is underway against a man in the murder of a 15-year-old
teenager in Barangay Alimodian, Matalam, North Cotabato.

The lifeless
body of Jovelyn Queme, resident of Purok 3, Sitio Calura, Barangay Minamaing,
Matalam was found by banana plantation workers on Monday morning.

Queme went
missing on Sept. 15 after leaving her aunt’s home in Barangay Alimodian. She told a relative she was returning home.

The Matalam
PNP said Queme sustained multiple stab wounds on her neck and other parts of
her body.

Police are
still determining if the girl was a victim of sexual assault or not. (NE)

(Sept. 25) – A 46-year-old farmer is now fighting for his life at a private
hospital here after he was attacked with a kitchen knife and machete by two men
Tuesday night, police said.
Casiano
Lapasaran of Barangay Nuangan, Kidapawan City, who sustained hack wounds on his
head and body, identified his attackers as Dodong Atab and his relative Romel
Atab.

Village
watchmen arrested the two suspects and are now detained at Kidapawan City lock
up cell. (NE)
