Immigration issues hold departure order against Ampatuan
MANILA -- Sajid Ampatuan, one of the accused in the Ampatuan massacre is barred from leaving the country after he has been placed under the Hold Departure Order (HDO).Atty. Elaine Tan, Bureau of Immigration (BI) spokesperson, confirmed that Ampatuan is not allowed to travel abroad.She said the order will be circulated and BI personnel in airports all over the country will be advised on the HDO within the day. If he (Ampatuan) would be seen at the airport, hindi siya paalisin. Huwag siya paalisin ng bansa,” the BI official added.Asked if the suspect will use other name since BI personnel is not familiar on how he looks. Sa passport niya,‘yung details so macheck naman ‘yun kapag input pangalan nya sa computer,” Tan said.On Monday, QCRTC Branch 221 Presiding Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes granted the motion requesting to put Ampatuan under an HDO.Ampatuan is one of the accused in the Maguindanao massacre where 58 people died, 32 of them were journalists.He was released after posting Php11.6-million bail.
