High Dengue prevalence in Maguindanao noted
MAGUINDANAO --- Nine of the 669 people from different towns in this province afflicted with Dengue fever from between January to June 2019 succumbed to the mosquito-borne disease.
Reports obtained by radio stations in Cotabato City from the Integrated Provincial Health Office-Maguindanao indicated that there were 669 Dengue cases from January to June this year, higher that the 393 cases listed last year.
Maguindanao’s provincial health chief, physician Tahir Sulaik, and municipal health offices in the province are now cooperating extensively in addressing the concern.
Maguindanao has 36 towns, more than a dozen of them located in swamps and marshes that connect to central Mindanao’s 220,000-hectare Liguasan Delta.
Datu Odin Sinsuat town had the most number of Dengue cases -- a total of 128 --- from January to June 2019.
Sultan Mastura, Upi, Parang, and Buluan had 77, 73, 67 and 34 Dengue cases during the same period, respectively.
