HEART-ARMM clears Taviran bridge of water lilies
COTABATO CITY
(Sept. 7) – Disaster officials and personnel from the Autonomous Region in Muslim
Mindanao (ARMM)today cleared the Taviran Bridgein Barangay Taviran,Water lilies that clogged the bridge wasone of the causes of floods pestering the town and its nearby communities.
Led by ARMM Executive Secretary Lawyer Laisa Alamia, workers, armed with mini-chainsaw,
bolo, sticks and wooden banca, the Humanitarian Emergency Action
and Response Team (HEART) of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM),
the local residents, public works and highways, and Office of ARMM Gov. Mujiv
Hataman, cleared the water hyacinth that clogged the foundation of Taviran
Bridge.
Locally known
as Pusaw,” the water lilies delay the smooth and quick flow of river water, causing
nearby communities to be inundated.
After about
two hours of battling the pusaw,” relief and disaster workers cleared the
Taviran bridge with water lilies.
Water hyacinth
also slowly building up under the Tamontaka bridge Sunday and may clog the
water flow if remained unattended. (NDBC)
