Gunmen kill government lawyer in North Cotabato

MATALAM, North
Cotaboto – Unidentified gunmen shot dead a government lawyer while he
was emerging from his residents on board his pick-up vehicle, police said
today.

Supt. Bernard
Tayong, speaking for North Cotabato provincial police office, identified the
victim as Atty. Honorato Maso, 54 of North Cotabato‘s Public Attorney’s Office
(PAO).

Tayong said Maso, a resident of Gumamela Street, Barangay
POblacion, Matalam, was driving his Nissan pikc-up truck (MEP-842), when gunmen
opened fire on him using cal. 45 pistol at 10:15 a.m.

He was rushed
to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Manhunt is in
progress,” Tayong said, adding the motive and identities of the suspects
