Grenade blast injures 4 in Iligan City
ILIGAN CITY - Three women and a man were injured when an unidentified man tossed a hand grenade at the Freedom Park, Barangay Poblacion, Iligan City at about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.Police said the blast occurred in front of Western Union establishment along a busy street of Iligan City's commercial district.The victims were rushed to Dr. Uy Hospital.In a statement posted on its website, the Iligan PNP identified the four victims asandVictim 1and Laureto Carabantes Jr, 26, worker of Art Destura Printing, a resident of Santiago, Iligan City. He sustained shrapnel injuries at the back of his headwhile standing at a roadside waiting for ride home.Victim 2and Cristine Mercaders, 20, student of Iligan Institute of Technology (IIT), a resident of Curvada, Ma. Cristina, Iligan City who was hit in his arm.Victim 3and Cherryl Paquit, 26, an employee of Ilicom and resident of Caugmaran, Suarez, Iligan City. She sustained shrapnel wounds in herleft and right shoulder and neck.Victim 4and Shielamae Maagad, 23, resident of Actub St. Barangay Poblacin, Iligan City. She sustained injury on her left temporal.
