Grenade among Kidapawan's flash floods debris
KIDAPAWAN
CITY (Sept. 15/NDBC) – Residents of a densely populated district here were
awakened by the discovery of an explosive which many believed was among the
debris scattered by Thursday night’s flash floods that hit the city.
Residents
told DXND Radyo Bida Kidapawan Monday they discovered the explosive inside a paper box
among the debris taken by flash floods.
They quickly alerted the police.
Police and
Army bomb experts said the explosive was without its safety pin when found by
villagers of Purok Guava, Barangay Poblacion, Kidapawan City at 8 a.m.
Saturday.
The
military’s 34th Explosive and Ordnance Disposal Team safely
recovered the explosive.
Flash
floods hit eight of Kidapawan City’s 40 villages on Thursday night that
affected about 306 families and damaged properties, infrastructure and houses
estimated to cost more than 40 million. (NDBC)
