Floods hit Sultan Kudarat coastal town
COTABATO CITY (Sept. 10/NDBC) -- Atleast 800 families or about 4,000 individuals have been affected by floods that hit a remote barangay in Sultan Kudarat province Monday night, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.Workers of themunicipal disaster relief team of a coastal town in Sultan Kudarat province are busy attending to the needs of families displaced by recent floods,The flooding occurred at 9 p.m. Monday in Barangay Poblacion in the coastal town of Palimbang after two days of moderate to heavy downpour.No casualty or injury was reported but residents were surprised to witness rampaging flood waters in their homes.At least a dozen houses made of light materials were destroyed.Workers of the Palimbang Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in Palimbang is conducting Damage and Needs Assessment (DANA).An MDRRMC report said relief operations have been conducted, including feeding program for the affected families.Those who lost homes are now housed at the municipal gymnasium.(NDBC)
