KORONADAL CITY (Sept. 17/NDBC)- Police authorities in Gen. Santos City have been informed about an intelligence report about a supposed plan by some sectors to set off a bomb in the city Tuesday night that left eight persons wounded,a popular lawmaker today said.Rep. Manny Pacquiao of Saranggani said he received information about the alleged plot that a bomb will be planted anytime and anywhere in thecity and alerted authorities.He was sad innocent civilians were hurt. Bakit kailangan idamay ang mga inosenteng mamamayan!!! Alam naman po natin kung sino may gawa nito. Kahapon pa may intelligence report nako. Di ko lang alam kung saan at kailan..(Why civilians had to be involved. We already know who did it. I already have the intelligence. Just don't know where and when it will explode)I already alerted the authorities! Pacquiao said.Officially, seven persons were hurt, Supt. Rolly Octavio, Gen. Santos City deputy police chief, told Radyo Bida Cotabato Wednesday morning.Octavio said post blast investigation last night was hampered by moderate rainfall. He said investigation will continue today.It went off at past 7:30 a.m. beside Rizal Monument.Rushed to various hospitals in the citywere Sarah Alquisa, 18 of Barangay Labangal, Gen. Santos City,Marlon Pajada, 23 ofSanto Niño, South Cotabato, Christian Paul Aminong, 20, of Soriano Subdivision, Gen. Santos, and a certain James Abrea.Fe Magnanao was in critical condition.Three others were not identified in the report.Nelson
Samilin, head of the local Red Cross rescue team, said they were on standby at
their office located at the back of the city hall building when they heard a
loud explosion.
He said they
immediately rushed to the scene and found several persons who were hit by
shrapnels believed coming from the explosive.
We assisted
two persons who sustained minor injuries and helped bring two others to the
hospital,” he said in a radio interview.
No one has claimed responsibility in the bomb attackwhich came three daysafter the city celebrated the famous 16th Tuna Festival. (with PNA)
