Duterte meets with rebel couple who yield to Army

DAVAO CITY -- President Duterte met onSaturday night the spokesperson of National Democratic Front-New Peoples Army for southern Mindanao who surrendered to military authorities Jan 15.The meeting at Matina Enclaves here was off to the press.Sources said the President lauded Noel Legazpi alias Ka Efren Aksasato and his wife Wendy for coming down and to live normal lives.The president was hoping the couple's surrender would entice others to also comedown.The couple surrendered to the Army's 27th Infantry Battalion, under Lt. Colonel Benjamin Leander, with the help of South Cotabato Gov. Daisy Avance-Fuentes.
