DOLE-12, Cotabato City to ink MOA on child labor
COTABATO CITY – The Cotabato City government is set to sign a Memorandum of
Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-12) and four
villages to make Cotabato City a child-labor free” city.
The
MOA signing to take place on Nov. 25 will involve DOLE-12 Regional Director
Ofelia Domingo and four village chairs of Barangay Poblacion 3, 4, Rosary
Heights 2 and 3.
It is
part of the initial program that will address child abuse and child labor in
risky working environment in the city.
Leaders
from other villages will also sign MOA with DOLElater, Mayor Japal Guiani Jr said.
Included
in the program are livelihood assistance packages from DOLE-12 to the
children’s parents to help them bring their children to schools instead in an
unfavorable environment.
