DOH-12 reports on immunization campaign
COTABATO CITY
(Sept. 10/NDBC) – Almost all the local government units in the SOCCSKSARGEN
region have started anti-measles and anti-polio campaign, the Department of
Health 12 said today.

Baluma, DOH-12 regional director, said in the past five days since the campaign
was launched on September 1, about 96,000 children 0-59 months old or 19
percent of the target have been immunized with measles vaccines while 102,000
children of the same age have been immunized with anti-polio vaccines or about
20 percent of the target in the region.
SOCCSKSARGEN
region, also known as Region-12, is composed of the provinces of South
Cotabato, North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarnaggani and the cities of
Cotabato, Kidapawan, Koronadal, Tacurong and Gen. Santos.
It has 45 municipalities or 1,195 barangays or local government units.Baluma said
Tacurong City LGU had the highest number of children immunized to date.
Aside from
inviting the parents through various media outlets and platforms, DOH personnel
and health providers toured around the region to carry out the vaccination.
He admitted
though that some towns or LGUs are yet to commence the nationwide campaign
dubbed as Kampanya kontra tigdas at polio 2014.” (NDBC)
