Couple from Cotabato City nabbed in Maguindanao AFP checkpoint

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao –- Military personnel manning checkpoints in Datu Unsay, Maguindanao arrested on Tuesday a couple for possession of a firearm and prohibited drugs.Capt. John Arvin Encinas, spokesperson of the 6th Infantry Division, said elements of 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion, were checking on commuters and vehicles in Barangay Meta, Datu Unsay, Maguindanao when they noticed two persons on a motorbike appeared to be restless.The suspects, June Usman and Sharrie Mae Yuson, both
residents of Barangay Rosary Heights 10, Cotabato City were found in possession
of eight sachets of suspected shabu and caliber super .38 revolver with two magazines.
Encinas said troopers also recovered from the suspects were improvised
totter, foil, assorted lighters, a sim card, three cellphones, android tablet,
necklace and money worth P26,442 pesos.
Both were turned over to Datu Unsay police station
for proper disposition.
Major General Dela Vega, commended the troops
involved in the apprehension and urged his subordinates to continue the efforts against illegal
drugs.
Units under the 6th Infantry Division
have put up checkpoints along the Maguindanao major highways following
President Duterte’s declaration of Martial Law all over Mindanao.
