BFP appeals for public's cooperation to avoid fire
COTABATO CITY - Be vigilant, avoid setting on firedried backyard leaves and put off house appliances when not in use.These are some of the reminders of the Cotabato City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to residents as cases of fire have been on the rise during the Fire Prevention Month.No major fire incident have occurred in the city but in Region 12, at least 25 fire incidents have been reported, many of which were grass fires.In Cotabato City, Deputy Fire Marshall James Rah called on the residents to be on guard and avoid activities that may trigger conflagration.Rah issued the appeal following a grass fire that hit a vacant lot in Purok Kakar, Barangay Poblacion 6 at 6 p.m. Monday which destroyed grass in a more than one hectare cogon grass.
Rah said a resident was cleaning her home's surroundings and set on fire dried leaves unconsciously setting off a grass fire. The fire quickly spread to the surroundings because of dried environment.
It was the sixth grass fire incident in the city this month.
