Arrest warrant out for Shariff Aguak mayor

COTABATO CITY
(Sept. 19) – A warrant of arrest has been out for Mayor Sahara Upam Ampatuan of
Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao in connection with the murder of the town council
secretary.
DXMS Radyo Bida CotabatoThe warrant of
arrest was issued by Regional Trial Court in Cotabato City.
Alfredo
Amelista, Shariff Aguak town council secrtary was shot dead on April 3 in
Shariff Aguak.
The town mayor
and two others, identified as Kanurin Tayuan and Rambo Guiasalam, were charged before
the local court.
Vice Mayor
Marop Ampatuan has already assumed as OIC mayor of Shariff Aguak Tuesday after
the lady mayor failed to report for the past 10 days.
He refused to
comment on the case against the mayor, a relative by blood and by
affinity. Other Shariff Aguak local
officials also remained quiet on the issue.
The mayor’s
children said she has not gone into hiding and still functioning as the town
chief executive.She is yet to issue official statement.Mayor Ampatuan
is the wife of former Shariff Aguak Mayor Anwar Ampatuan who is detained in
Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig and one of the accused in the infamous Maguindanao
