COTABATO CITY -- The newly-elected governor of Tawi-Tawi and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao are to cooperate in implementing P50.4 million-worth of new infrastructure projects in the island province.

Engineer Doon Loong, ARMM’s regional public works secretary, on Thursday said the deal was signed here on Tuesday by
Gov. Ras Matba and the chief executive of the autonomous region, Regional Governor Mujiv Hataman.
Loong also affixed his signature on the memorandum of agreement the two officials forged at the sideline of their first ever official meeting at the Office of the Regional Governor in Cotabato City.Matba was elected Tawi-Tawi provincial governor only last May 9, where he defeated reelectionist Gov. Nurbert Sahali, then aspiring for a second term. The projects, to be funded by the ARMM government, include the Moktar Ungus-Ungus road in Sibutu at P10.6 million the Wok road in Simunul at P20.3 million the Sitangkai footbridge at P9.7 million and the improvement of an access road and drainage system also in Sitangkai at P9.7 million.Sibutu, Simunul and Sitangkai are island towns in Tawi-Tawi that are far from the provincial capital, the municipality of Bongao, seat of the provincial government. The office of Matba will oversee the projects, which the Hataman administration is to fund with an allocation drawn from the ARMM’s infrastructure budget.Matba said he is thankful to the ARMM government for entrusting to his office a huge infrastructure grant meant to hasten the socio-economic growth of Tawi-Tawi
