COTABATO CITY -- Another shooting incident in Cotabato City left one man dead.Jaod Vargas, a resident of Purok Magungaya, Barangay Bagua Mother, was declared dead on arrival at the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center minutes after he was shot by two men at 10 p.m. Wednesday.Police Station 4 incident report showed Vargas was standing in front of his house when two men riding tandem on a motorbike arrived and shot him without provocation.The two then left while Vargas' relatives rushed him to the hospital.Despite the increased police visibility backed by Army Special Forces, crimes involving guns still occur in the city streets.Local officials and the police have been trying its best to contain the spate of killings, to no avail.Since January to August, 88 shooting incidents have been reported by the Cotabato City PNPwith 70 deaths and 33 injured.
