'Agaw motor' likely motive in shooting of SoCot Four Square Church pastor
KORONADAL CITY
– The attempt on the life of a Four Square Church pastor in Tantangan, South
Cotabato over the weekend was motivated by crime against property, police said.
Citing police
investigation report, Inspector John Eric Medel, Tantangan police chief, said
the gunman was after the motorbike of Pastor Carlito Abalos, 34, resident of
Barangay Carpenter Hill, Koronadal City.
Abalos was driving
his motorbike from Isulan town in Sultan Kudarat to Koronadal City over the
weekend and when in Barangay Mangilala, Tantangan town a man flagged him down
at past 8:30 in the evening Friday.
Sensing it was
a case of hold-up, Abalos sped away but he was shot from behind. The religious preacher was hit in his back.
The suspect
attempted to take the pastor’s vehicle but back off when several vehicles were
seen approaching the crime scene and provided lights.
Bystanders
rushed the victim to the hospital.
