5 soldiers hurt in Maguindanao roadside bombing
SHARIFF AGUAK, Maguindanao – Five soldiers, including an Army lieutenant, were
hurt in a roadside bombing in Datu Unsay, Maguidanao Sunday morning, police
said.
Chief Supt.
Graciano Mijares, police regional director for the Autonomous Region in Muslim
Mindanao, quoting a report from Maguindanao PNP provincial office,said the explosion of suspected
improvised explosive device in Meta bridge, Barangay Meta, Datu Unsay,
Maguindanao occurred at 7:30 a.m. while the Army’s KM-150 truck was passing by.
Injured were 1Lt.
Jano Cyril C. Reyes, team leader, Private First Class Maguncia, PFC Purol, PFC
Crispo, (Driver) and Pvt Ramirez, all personnel of 57th Infantry
Battalion.
The blast site
along the national highway is about 800 meters away from the detachment of 57th
IB Alpha Company. The victims are now
confined at Maguindanao provincial hospital in Shariff Aguak town.
Mijares said
the Maguindanao PNP police provincial office is helping the military in
identifying the perpetrators.
Abu Misry
Mama, speaking for the IS-inspired Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF),
said his group was behind the roadside bombing.
Of course we
did it, Mama said.
Mama said the
bombing was in retaliation to the series of offensives the Army had against the
BIFF in the towns of Datu Salibo, Datu Unsay and Datu Saudi Ampatuan. (Edwin O.
