3RD UPDATEand 19 aftershocks follow Magnitude 6.5 quake that hit Mati City, Davao Oriental
KORONADAL CITY - Nineteen aftershocks were recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) following a Magnitude 6.0 that struck at 6:53 a.m. Saturday, the state volcanology office said.In a statement to and//www.ndbcnews.com.ph www.ndbcnews.com.ph , Phivolcs said the strongest aftershock was Magnitude 4.9 which came at 7:45 a.m. and traced 41 kilometers east of Mati.The latest aftershock was recorded at 1:25 p.m. with a 2.9 magnitude.In an earlierbulletin, Phivolcs said the first quake was traced 32 kilometers east of Mati City in Davao Oriental and recorded at 6:53 a.m.It was tectonic in origin with a depth of 39 kilometers.Phivolcs said no casualty or damages to property was reported as of this posting.The quake was felt as far as Davao City, Digos city,Gen. Santos City andKoronadal City.Phivolcs said Intensity 5 was felt in Mati City and Davao City, Intensity 4 in Gen.Santos City, Alabel, Glan, Malapatan in Sarangani and Polomolok, South Cotabato.Intensity 3 was felt in Tupi, South Cotabato and Koronadal City.Phivolcs said the next aftershocks came at 8:38 a.m., 8:49 a.m., 9:11 a.m, 9:21 a.m. and 9:37 a.m. with an average Magnitude 2.9.The state volcanology office said no reported casualty or damages to property so far.
