300 ARMM hopefuls vie for 30 BFAR scholarship slots
COTABATO CITY -- Examinees in the ARMM who are hoping to become
beneficiaries of the Fisheries Scholarship Program of the Bureau of Fisheries
and Aquatic Resources of the Department of Agriculture are eagerly awaiting the
results of the program’s recruitment examination held simultaneously nationwide
on February 24.
The BFAR National office allotted 30 slots for ARMM for
the Fisherfolk Children Educational Grant (FCEG) which provides assistance to registered
fisherfolks in sending their children to college. Three slots were, meanwhile, given to the region for the Fisheries Industry Leaders Grant (FILG).
About 300 candidates from all over region took the exams
facilitated by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources of the Autonomous

other ARMM testing centers.
More than 100 examinees came from Sulu while 80 came from
Basilan. 60 came from Lanao del sur and 50 from Maguindanao.
The scholarship program has been implemented by the BFAR
for the past 36 years until 2015 when it was stooped due to the implementation of
the K-12 Program of the Department of Education.
Qualified scholars will receive a monthly stipend of P4,000,
financial support of P3,000 for OJT (on-the-job training), P7,000 pesos for
