2 Maguindanao execs named by PRRD as drug lords deny charges

COTABATO CITY – Mayor Montasir Sabal of Talitay, Maguindanao and Mayor Rasul Sangki of
Ampatuan, Maguindanao have separately denied allegations they were drug lords.

Sangki and Sabal were
both named by President Duterte as narco-politicians during his Sunday dawn
news conference in Davao City.Six others officials from Maguindanaowere also named.Sabal has repeatedly
denied he was a drug lord but admitted, in several media interviews, that he
was once into it.

I was once into
illegal drug trade when I was still a police officer. But when I entered politics and won, I
immediately stopped,” said Sabal who was reelected to his third and last term
as mayor last May.

When asked whether he
will surrender or not after the President named him as among those involved in
illegal drugs, Sabal said he is yet to decide.
Sabal said he was talking to his lawyers.

Sangki told reporters
Thursday that he was not a drug lord and has never been involved in illegal

He also showed up to
PNP Director Gen. Ronald dela Rosa after reports have circulated he was a drug
lord in Maguindanao.
