PIKIT, North Cotabato - Police have launched manhunt against a lone gunman who allegedly shot dead a man and his sister in the boundary of Barangays Gli-gli and Poblacion in Pikit Saturday.

Police Captain Mautin Pangandigan, Pikit town police chief, identified the victims as Haizon Lauban Wahab, 35 years old and his sister Bai Puti Lauban-Sinsuat, both from Poblacion Dalican, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

Initial investigation showed, according to Pangandigan, that a lone gunman was believed to have carried the crime by shooting both in the head using cal. 45 pistol.

MAGUINDANAO --- The chief of the Philippine National Police installed Monday a new director for the Bangsamoro region in a ceremony made markedly peculiar by COVID-19 containment protocols.

Brig. Gen. Samuel Rodriguez took over the command of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region from Major Gen. Manuel Abu in a rite held at Camp SK Pendatun in Parang town, presided over by their superior, Police Director Camilo Coscolan.

COTABATO CITY --- Six men were killed in separate clashes Thursday involving rival guerilla groups in Pagalungan, Maguindanao and in Maitum, Sarangani.

The hostilities in Barangay Kalbugan in Pagalungan, Maguindanao forced a number of poor ethnic Maguindanaon families to relocate to safer areas.

Local officials and the municipal police reported Friday that four were killed in the gunfight between the Impos and the Magao clans in Barangay Kalbugan.

COTABATO CITY --- The new 189 personnel of the Bangsamoro regional police are to help in the government’s war on coronavirus in five southern provinces.

Brig. Gen. Manuel Abu, director of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, said Monday the 189 new members of PRO-BAR completed last week the basic recruitment course in Camp SK Pendatun.

The camp, regional command center of PRO-BAR, is located in the seaside Parang town in the first district of Maguindanao province.

COTABATO CITY --- Government operatives shot dead a multiple murder suspect and arrested his three accomplices in a series of operations Friday in Matanog, Maguindanao. 

The Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region identified the fatality as Itek Dumran Cocoy, whom agents of PRO-BAR and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group neutralized when he grabbed the firearm of one of the policemen escorting him out of their hideout. 

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao  – An Army trooper was killed while undetermined number of communist rebels were either injured or killed in a clash following an ambush on Wednesday afternoon in Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat, the Army here said.

Maj. Gen. Diosdado Carreon, 6th Infantry Division commander, in a statement, said elements of the 37th Infantry Battalion, while conducting security operations, encountered more or less 10 New Peoples Army (NPA) rebels in Sitio Basiawan, Barangay Datu Ito Andong, Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat at 12:50 p.m., September 2.

Sa report ng PNP, nakilala ang biktima na si Kenny Garcia Labasan, 25 years old isang laborer at mangangakal na taga Purok Kadina de amor, Barangay Malanduage, Kabacan, Cotabato habang maswerte namang nakaligtas ang isang pang lalaking kasama nito.

COTABATO CITY -- The police has activated an interim group to probe on Saturday’s fatal ambush of nine Moro motorists in Kabacan, North Cotabato.

Col. Henry Villar, director of the North Cotabato provincial police, said Sunday the special investigation task group, or SITG, shall enlist the help of local officials and other sectors that can help put closure to the case.

Local police probers said the victims, riding separate motorcycles, were ambushed by five men armed with assault rifles in Barangay Aringgay, while en route to the town center of Kabacan.

COTABATO CITY --- Police and military probers are still clueless on Saturday’s fatal ambush of nine motorists inside a sprawling state agricultural reservation in Kabacan town in North Cotabato.

Major Peter Pinalgan, Jr. of the Kabacan municipal police station said Sunday they are still trying to identify the gunmen who ambushed the nine Moro men on separate motorcycles at noontime Saturday in Barangay Aringgay.

KABACAN, North Cotabato – The lone survivor in the mass killing Saturday in Kabacan, Cotabato has also died hours after the shooting, raising the death toll to nine, police said.

Police Major Peter Pinalgan Jr, Kabacan town police chief, said Tong Guiaman, 30 years old, married and resident Buluan, Kabacan, Cotabato expired at past 4 p.m. while undergoing medication at a private hospital.
