Veteran Maguindanao SP member back to work
MAGUINDANAO --- The most senior from among Maguindanao’s eight elected board members was sworn to office Wednesday by a barangay chairman in Datu Odin Sinsuat town.
The reelected Datu Bimbo Sinsuat from the first district of the province took his oath before Datu Abdulhakeem Sinsuat, chairman of Barangay Poblacion in Datu Odin Sinsuat.
Relatives said Thursday Sinsuat had long wanted his inaugural oath taking done simply, to be administered by a barangay official.
He is now in his second term as provincial board member.
Sinsuat was a lawmaker in the Marcos-era Batasang Pampook in the Lupong Tagapagpaganap ng Pook 12. He also became member of the 24-seat Regional Assembly of the now defunct Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), serving for three terms that lasted for nine years.
The ARMM was replaced with a more empowered Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao last February based on peace accords reached by the national government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front in negotiations that lasted for 22 years.
Sinsuat is son of the late Datu Odin Sinsuat, who also served as mayor of Dinaig town that was named after him following his demise.
The reelected provincial board member Sinsuat is touted as the most senior in the SP of Maguindanao who has a wide experience in legislative works and is as well-versed in Central Mindanao politics.
