US-based NGO extends medical, dental services to Kidapawan folks
KIDAPAWAN CITY - A US-based non- government organization in partnership with the local government of Kidapawan City has conducted free medical and dental outreach program benefiting almost 1,000 indigents Sunday, officials said today. With Love Jan Incorporated, an NGO based in Los Angeles, California, and medical workers of the city took time to spend a day with the indigents, many of whom cannot afford to see a doctor or buy medicine, Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph Evangelista said.Dr. Bernie Miguel who hails from Kidapawan and head of With Love Jan, Incorporated, said his group was happy for this pioneer project of our group here. He said a follow up outreach program is already on schedule because we wold like to return to our roots and help our countrymen and town mates. On top of the medical and dental outreach program, the group also conducted supplemental feeding program in partnership with the city government to help address malnutrition among pupils of daycare and elementary schools.Miguel said his group is now searching for partner schools where With Love Jan, Inc will provide aid like computers and books.Next year, the group will put up a library and a school for indigenous peoples of Kidapawan City. We are happy helping people become happy, Miguel said in a radio interview.He lauded the city government leaders and workers of the Kidapawan City health office for accepting his group's noble project.
