COTABATO CITY -A man dies in this freak accident near the corner of Sinsuat Avenue and Gov. Gutierrez Avenue in Cotabato City Tuesday afternoon.Killed on the spot was Omar Galacal Masacal, 41, an employee of the Cooperative Development Authority in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CDA-ARMM) and resident of Zenaida Subdivision, Rosary Heights, Cotabato City.Investigation conducted by the city traffic management unit showed the Isuzu Elf cargo truck (RKC-841) was on reverse mode along Gutierrez Avenue when it hit two SUVs and two tricycles at past 3 p.m.Masacal was hit by the delivery truck as he alighted from theToyota Hi Ace van. Before he was pinned to death, Masacal was heard yelling at the truck driver to stop, to no avail.Police investigators identified the truck driver 17-year-old Tonton Timol Lumagala of San Vicente Street, Cotabato City. The truck was pwned by businessman William Siao.The truck also hit two payong-payong (tricycles) and a Toyota Innova.Payong-payong driver Johamen Quezon, 17, was also injured.Lumagala is now detained at police station 2 waiting for multiple charges. sand// Photo by Abdul Majeed Andong, city traffic unit chief.
