Unemployment down, underemployment up in Kidapawan City
KIDAPAWAN CITY – The Public Employment and Services Office here said that unemployment rate in the city has gone down to 1.98 percent, this year.
Herminia Infanta, PESO head, told this development to dxND Radyo Bida during the celebration of Labor Day.
Meanwhile, the underemployment rate or the number of people who have jobs but mismatched with their qualifications and educational background has gone up to about 17-19 percent of the total working force in the city.
Hence, PESO Kidapawan urged job seekers to attend the weekly pre-employment orientation seminar to be able to prepare for job interviews, tips, documents to bring and employers information.
The weekly pre-employment orientation seminar is held every Thursday from 9am-12nn in the PES Office at Kidapawan city Hall.
Infanta said they will hold a job fair and diskwentro Caravan on the third week of May at the city gymnasium.
Hundreds of jobs both domestic and overseas will be offered of various company’s local employers and recruitment agencies.
On the other hand, diskwento Caravan aims to provide opportunity for consumers to access basic goods, school supplies and prime commodities at discounted or reduced prices by bringing in manufacturers and retailers.
During the diskwentro Caravan, the Department of Trade and Industry will give at least 30% discount from all items specially schools supplies and other.
The Diskwento Caravan Balik-Eskwela Edition aims to provide and bring basic and prime commodities closer to the general consuming public.
Products sold during the Balik-Eskwela Editions are food items, school supplies, uniforms, shoes, and other school related merchandise.
The Diskwento Caravan Balik-Eskwela Edition is also in partnership with the local manufacturers, PESO, Deped and the local government of Kidapawan. Rhoderick Beñez
