Rampaging water washes away Koronadal City footbridge
KORONADAL CITY – Rampaging river water on Tuesday night washed awaymakeshift foot bridge built by residents across a river here, residents said.The foot bridge made of bamboo poles served as temporary link for villagers of Barangay Paulino Santos, Koronadal City in coming to the city center.It served as livelihood project for residents nearby as minimal fees are collected to passersby since July when heavy downpour triggered a flash floods.Gemma Panes, one of those in charge in collecting fees, said rampaging water washed away the makeshift bridge following heavy downpour upstream.The local government of Koronadalhas planned to construct a better foot bridge since the construction of a new bridge may take time.City officials said the public works department has already committed P70 million for the replacement bridge.
