Philippine Grass Owl rescued in Tulunan, NoCot

TULUNAN, COTABATO - Naiturn-over na sa Department of Environment and Natural Resources o DENR 3rd District Satellite Office sa bayan ng Matalam kahapon ang isang endangered Philippine Grass Owl na nakita ng isang residente sa Tulunan, North Cotabato.

Ayon sa ulat, nahuli ng residenteng si June Butil sa kanilang sakahan sa bandang Brgy Popoyon ng bayan ang nasabing ibon na tila ay nahihirapang maglakad at may pilay ang kanyang kanang pakpak at nanghihina na ito.

Sa taya ng mga otoridad, nasa dalawa hanggang tatlong buwan na ang nasabing ibon batay sa laki nito.

Duda ng mga residente sa lugar, maaaring natamaan ito ng bato mula sa mga taong nanghuhuli ng mga ibon.

Agad namang nalapatan ng paunang lunas ang natamo nitong pilay.

Dahil dito, nakatanggap naman ng isang sakong bigas at cash assistance ang nakahuling si Butil dahil sa pag-alaga sa naturang ibon.

Ayon naman sa DENR, papakawalan din ang Philippine Grass Owl kung gumaling na ito at kung maaari na muling makalipad.

Ang Philippine Grass Owl ay endemic na sa bansang Pilipinas at makikita rin ito sa mga bansa gaya ng Australia, Bangladesh, China, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Myanmar at iba.
